Area Information - St Francois Longchamp

The village of St Francois Longchamp is based in the increasingly popular Maurienne Valley so price wise it’s still excellent value but get in quick!

 

Based near to the Col de la Madeleine it’s a largely purpose built resort providing excellent value apartment style accommodation right on the slopes. It’s pretty typical of the newer purpose built French resorts in that pretty much all the runs hook up and lead into a central village square which is surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants, the runs into the resort are also really easy making it fantastic for beginners and children. The ski area itself is called “Le Grand Domaine” and boasts a very respectable 160km of pisted runs with excellent facilities. There’s a modern lift network meaning queuing times are minimal and the area is potential for the more advanced skier and boarder as well.

 

There are plenty of snow cannons providing excellent cover and there is the pre requisite half pipe to keep the snowboarders and freestylers happy. Again it’s a very good resort at doing what it set out to do which is provide people with good value skiing in a respectable area. It’s fantastic for family’s with kids wanting convenience but it’s also good for those of you on a bit of a budget needing to have a blast on snow for the week. Again it’s got a good friendly feel to it so it’s a really good contender for pretty much all trips.
